Barbury International Horse Trials saw Power Sport Horse-bred PSH Convivial, now run and ridden by Alex Hua Tian ride in CIC** Section C, coming in sixth place.
PSH Convivial, a 16h2 gelding sired by PSH Ulysses with dam PSH Miss Roxcento, was home-bred at Power Sport Horse’s Newtown stables where he was trained and ridden by Loretta Joynson from 2016 to 2017.
Chinese Olympic rider Alex Hua Tian who bought PSH Convivial at the end of the 2017 season, says: “He’s really different to my normal type. I normally go for the big moving, rangy, long horse and Convivial is the total opposite. He’s like a little rubber ball, a proper jumper, really careful and I really enjoy riding him.
Nice horse.”
Alex, who won a silver medal for China at the 2014 Asian Games is the youngest eventer ever to compete at an Olympics. Dubbed “one in a billion” he was also the first rider ever to represent China at an Olympic games.
PSH Convivial is in the running to accompany Alex to the Asian Games in Jakarta this August.
